HOSPITALITY

LODGING
There are a number of lodging options very near campus: Howard Johnson, Super 8, Marriot, Residence Inn, Kellogg Center, and the Towneplace Suites. We will, by request, put presenters in contact with each other so that shared accomodations can be arranged. Though a number of these hotels are within walking distance of campus (Townplace Suites is the closest, the Kellogg is on campus, and the Marriot is one block off campus) and about a 20 minute walk or bus ride from the conference site, we will provide transportation to and from your hotel; rides from the train and bus station and airport can also sometimes be arranged. If finances make a hotel stay difficult, please inquire about the possiblity of alternative housing. You may find hotels.com, hotwire.com, travelocity.com, or expedia.com of use to you in searching for the lowest rate.

For your convenience, we have compiled this list of helpful links. Here you will find information about East Lansing and the Lansing Metro areas that will make arranging your visit, and the visit itself, more enjoyable. Consider visiting the State Capitol in downtown Lansing while you're in the area.

LOCAL INFORMATION
See the websites for the City of Lansing and the City of East Lansing. If you want to know more about what's going on in the Lansing Metro Area, including rental housing information, head on over to the Lansing State Journal, biggest newspaper in the area.

TRANSPORT: MSU / LANSING
CATA - The Capital Area Transportation Authority. Students can currently ride anywhere within its jurisdiction for fifty cents with a student ID. They even provide service from Lansing's Capital City Airport.

AIRPORTS
Capital City Airport (Lansing)'s website lets you check your flight's arrival and departure time to be sure all is well, and provides maps of the terminal. If you fly directly into Lansing, you'll arrive at the Capital City Airport. Direct flights to Lansing are sometimes more expensive than flights into Detroit, but not always. You will generally make up for any small extra cost by saving on ground-based transportation once you reach your destination. A taxi from Detroit to Lansing is more expensive than a flight. We can usually arrange for you to be picked up by a graduate student at the Capital City Airport, but probably not at Detroit. Detroit Metro Airport. The drive from Detroit Metro Airport to Michigan State University is an hour and 15 minutes in good traffic, should you wish to fly into Detroit and rent a car. To reach Lansing from Detroit, take interstate 94 toward Ann Arbor approximately 4 miles until you reach interstate 275. Take 275 north toward Canton and Livonia. Remain on 275 for just about 20 miles until you reach interstate 96. Take 96 west to Lansing and Grand Rapids. You will remain on 96 until you reach Lansing. Follow the signs for Michigan State University.
