Moral and Political Philosophy, Philosophy of Law.

Interests:

Prof. Esquith has published Intimacy and Spectacle: Liberal Theory as Political Education (Cornell, 1994), and articles on democratic political education, justice, reconciliation, and moral and political responsibility as well as historical figures such as Hobbes, Marx, and Weber. He has also edited Political Dialogue: Theories and Practices (Rodopi, 1996) .  He is on the editorial board of the journal Polity, and he has been a senior Fulbright Scholar in Poland (1990-91) and in Mali (2005-06). His current research is on ethics and development, in particular the problem of responsibility for mass violence.
