The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition maintains several highly accessible food processing pilot laboratories suitable for a wide variety of food products.These facilities provide excellent working environments and appropriate equipment for pilot scale manufacturing and testing of foods.Partial technical and personnel support is provided by the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station, and Michigan State University Extension.Each facility was built or renovated to meet the exacting needs of advanced food processing and testing technology and sanitary requirements.

    Animal Industries Reference Room

    Dept. branch of Main library. Reference Room supports the research and teaching activities of Animal Science and Food Science & Human Nutrition faculty, staff & students.

    Dairy Foods ComplexDairy based and fluid beverage food products.

    Meat Laboratories:Fresh and processed meat based products.
    Food Processing Center:Fruit, vegetable and formulated foods.

    Cereal Milling and Product Laboratories:Cereal grain based products.

    Experimental Foods Laboratory:Recipe and formulation development and testing.

    Food Sensory Laboratory:Taste panel testing.

    MSU Culinary and Experimental Foods Laboratory - This new facility provides excellent food preparation capabilities for teaching, research and outreach programs.

    Biochemical Nutrition Teaching and Research Laboratories - Renovated laboratories in G. Malcolm, Trout FSHN building provide multiple use facilities for cell culture, phytochemical/functional food research and instrumentation support of research programs. Additionally, a laboratory dedicated to Nutritional Sciences teaching provides excellent opportunities for student independent projects.

    Student Advising Center - The center was established to facilitate program visibility and access to advising and is located in South Anthony Hall. It provides resources to students enrolled in undergraduate FSHN majors.
