Since its beginning nearly 80 years ago, Extension
in Michigan has focused on bringing knowledge-based educational
programs to the people of the state to improve their lives and
communities. Today, field agents supported by on-campus faculty
members are serving in every county, providing base programs
focusing on agriculture and natural resources; children, youth and
families--, and community and economic development. MSUE's mission
and operating philosophy require it to anticipate society's changes
and concerns and to provide the best education possible to empower
Michigan citizens to deal with those changes and concerns while
maintaining ongoing programs that continue to be useful and
effective. MSUE extends the university's knowledge resources to all
citizens of Michigan and assists them in meeting their learning
needs in a variety of educational strategies, technologies and
collaborative arrangements.
