Present: G. Allen, S. Blosser, P. Bailey (COGS), J. Eulenberg, D. Fisher D. Forro, M. Hestenes, M. Hudson, N. Lucas, J. Renuk, K. Rivard, D.Schrems, R. Wittick.
1. The meeting was called to order by Eulenberg at 2:08 p.m.
2. Eulenberg noted with pleasure that Blosser will be continuing,part-time, with MSU after Jan. 1, 1998, and so will be able to continue on this committee. We still need one additional member, however, to substitute for Tom Hwang for the rest of this academic year.
3. Acceptance of the minutes of the 0/22/97 meeting was tabled until next meeting, pending fact-finding.
4. Hudson Report: The new OPHS facility is physically in place, but software is still being installed. Everything will probably be ready in mid-December. He will be looking for avenues for exposure of the new facility to the MSU community as soon as possible.
5. Forro Report: The Amigo (cart) has been received but has not yet been checked out. It will be located near the information and reference desks in the Main Library. Its use will be restricted to inside the library building.
Keeping of statistics on use of the library's handicappers facility has been problematic, because between 8 am and 5 pm users can enter and exit the room without being logged in and out.
6. Rivard Report: Image Logic will be donating a software update, plus training in its use, for our AutoCaption captioning system. (Used most recently for IAH media.) Schrems added that, among the 11 other CIC institutions, only Iowa, Purdue, and Wisconsin are currently captioning their videos.
7. Hudson asked that approved minutes of past ATC meetings be installed on the committee's web site. After general support was expressed for this request, Allen agreed to undertake the task, starting with the most recent meetings. Eulenberg reminded committee members of the existence of "Bobby" (www.cast.org/bobby), a web site that can evaluate and report back on the accessibility of web documents.
8. The meeting was adjourned (moved: Forro; seconded: Blosser at 3:01 pm.
