Welcome to the Scoring Office

The Scoring Office provides an optical scanning service for reading National Computer System (NCS) compatible scan sheets. A major use of this service is to score and record item responses to tests. Instructors may use the GRADER III system for maintaining class records throughout the semester. GRADER III is a flexible instructional assessment system combining grade-keeping, test and item analysis, and feedback to students. The GRADER III system includes the facility to e-mail individual student feedback reports. The Scoring Office scans non-test forms, including the Student Instructional Rating System (SIRS) and a wide variety of surveys. Sample packets of our standard forms are available.

The Scoring Office provides consultation in all of its service areas:

  • GRADER III grade-keeping system
  • Item analysis and test analysis
  • Student instructional rating systems
  • Design of scannable forms
  • Optical mark reading systems for intstructional, administrative, and research data entry
  • Statistical consulting
