Part of what makes MSU a land-grant university of the 21st century is our continued commitment to the prosperity of people and vitality of their communities. By sharing our practical knowledge, the university continues to discover new ways to ensure the future of economic growth and strong, vibrant communities.

In keeping with the university’s agricultural roots, MSU’s Beef Cattle Research and Teaching Center works to benefit beef cattle producers and ultimately Michigan consumers.

Many of the research projects deal with cattle nutrition and investigate methods to increase productivity of Michigan feedlots.

The center also provides classroom instruction space for veterinary, undergraduate and graduate students learning to use related technology and proper animal-care techniques.

The unit, visited by tour groups from all over the world, offers undergraduate students exposure to the daily routine of a commercial-size feedlot through a part-time employment program.
