Student Accomplishments

Some of the highlights of the past year (AY 2005–2006) include:

Marissa Hayes presented her work, “The Changing Faces of Feminism: The ‘Woman” Behind the Brand” at the University Undergraduate Research and Arts Forum (UURAF) in April 2006.

Marissa Hayes applied to and was accepted to attend the prestigious and selective New York University Publishing Institute in July 2006.

Luke Capizzo, a dual major in Professional Writing and James Madison, was selected winner of the 2006 Geneieve Gillette Fellowship for his work on technological change and liberal democracy.

Lisa Shaw, a dual major in Professional Writing and English who has been on the Dean’s List at MSU for six concurrent semesters, was the winner of the following awards: the 2006 Dorothy Yoshimori Award, the 2006 Ruth Dahlberg Study Abroad Scholarship, the Office of Study Abroad Academic Excellence Award, and the Office of Study Abroad Need & Merit Awards.

Karon Hampton was the first place winner of the 2006 MSU Global Focus photography contest. Her winning photograph, In the Shadow of the Real Thing, was taken in Pisa, Italy, while she was on Study Abroad (read more at www.isp.msu.edu/photocontest/index.php?

Adam Treadwell co-authored a manuscript currently under review for publication in Kairos: A Journal of Rhetoric, Technology, and Pedagogy. The manuscript is titled “old + old = new: A Copyright Manifesto for the Digital World,” and Adam contributed both written and multimedia content for the piece.

Roberto Reyes was also a co-author of the “old + old = new: A Copyright Manifesto for the Digital World” manuscript. Roberto also presented his work at two national conferences this year: The Association for Teachers of Technical Writing (ATTW) conference in March, held in Chicago, Illinois, and the Computers & Writing conference, held at Texas Technological University.
