Welcome to the Professional Writing Program at Michigan State University. The BA in Professional Writing is a major in the Department of Writing, Rhetoric, and American Cultures (WRAC, College of Arts & Letters) for students interested in specializing in writing as an area of expertise.

The major helps students develop advanced writing skills, with emphasis on writing in digital environments (e.g., web authoring, multimedia writing); on writing for/in diverse disciplines, communities, and cultures; and on editing and publishing.

Majors choose among one of three specialty tracks:

The major prepares students for careers in professional editing and publishing, technical writing, information development, and web authoring. It also prepares students for graduate work in rhetoric, writing, technical writing, the teaching of writing, and the study of culture. This writing degree program emphasizes the organizational, disciplinary, and cultural contexts for writing.

We invite you to explore this site and our program. Please take a look at some of our flyers below (each opens as a PDF).
