Halbritter founded and directs the MSU Documentary Lab, which is housed in the MSU Writing Center (300 Bessey Hall). His research and teaching interests involve documentary film and video authoring, aural rhetoric, digital literacies, composition pedagogies, rhetorical theory, oral history, and life story research. These interests are all present in his current documentary project, "LiteracyCorps Michigan," a research collaboration that he codirects with his WRAC colleague, Julie Lindquist.
Halbritter joined the WRAC faculty in the fall of 2006 after spending two years teaching in the Program in Writing and Rhetoric at Stanford University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill under the direction of Todd Taylor.
