Advising at Student Academic Affairs

To locate or contact your UUD adviser, click here: "offices & staff "

In addition to the administrative services (e.g., processing a change in major) and other academic support services (e.g., assisting with academic probation and/or recess) described in the "student administrative services" area of this site, Student Academic Affairs (SAA) also provides academic advising for students with fewer than 56 credits, regardless of major, and serves as the primary advising unit for No-Preference/Exploratory students.

SAA works closely with academic advising and support units across campus. We are committed to preparing academically successful scholars and leaders, increasing the retention rate of freshmen and sophomores, and assisting students to choose an appropriate major in a timely fashion.

Our specialists assist new and readmitted students in:

  • adjusting to University life
  • developing academic, major, and career planning goals
  • encouraging students to develop an appreciation for diversity in community

Here's how we can help you:

    Career/Major Selection
    • assistance with major exploration
    • information about major requirements
    • PRO 101 Pre-major Exploratory Seminar: Connecting Academics, Majors, and Careers
    • Marathon of Majors (a majors “fair” sponsored by UUD where students can talk to advisers from various majors)
    • career development materials

See, also, MSU's list of majors and colleges at: http://admissions.msu.edu/majors.asp
