About Sine Nomine

Taking their name from the hundreds of masses and fantasias that remain unnamed in medieval and Renaissance manuscripts, Sine Nomine (“without a name”) performs medieval and Renaissance sacred vocal music, Gregorian chant, and music of later periods that evokes an early music ethos; in particular, Sine Nomine specializes in music of the Anglican tradition. Past performances have included Byrd’s Mass for Three Voices and Mass for Five Voices,  Tallis’ Mass for Four Voices, Willian’s Tenebrae services for Holy Week, Allegri’s Miserere, Tomas Luis de Victoria’s Requiem and his mass O Quam Gloriosum, medieval service music from the Worcester fragments, as well as numerous motets, anthems, and service music for choral evensongs, feast days, and other liturgies. Under the direction of its founder, J. Nixon McMillan, Sine Nomine rehearses at All Saints Episcopal Church in East Lansing, Michigan, USA.

Sine Nomine has performed throughout Michigan; in addition, they have performed in New York, Canada, and Scotland.
