While at East Side, I was the advisor for the school newspaper. This proved to be a difficult task because there was no existing school newspaper. With the help of my honors English class, we created a student newspaper from the ground up. We had to download free publishing programs and raise money to buy paper. We were able to put out 100 copies of our first paper, which ended up being 16 pages long. From the beginning to the end, everything was created by the students, with guidance based on my experience working for the student newspaper at Michigan State. The students were proud of the results, and below you can view the front of our first and second papers. The rest of the paper consisted of sports articles, a fashion section, horoscopes, and a "what's hot, what's not" section.
