DECISION MAKING FOR SUSTAINABILITY

The Skunkworks Lab for Risk and Decision Research seeks a
motivated student
at the PhD. level to help develop and lead a research
program aimed at
developing a comprehensive sustainability plan for Michigan
State
University. The planning process will involve small-group
and experimental
work aimed at identifying potential campus sustainability
opportunities,
eliciting management objectives, modeling the expected
outcomes alternative
sustainability plans, and carrying out deliberative
tradeoff analysis using
decision analytic (vs. econometric) approaches. The
successful candidate
will work as part of an interdisciplinary team of faculty,
staff, and
student researchers working on various problems related to
sustainability
and sustainability planning.
The successful candidate will have a M.S./M.A./M.Sc. as
well as academic
training in psychology, planning, operations research,
behavioral economics,
or a closely related field. Especially competitive students
will also
possess practical, consulting, or agency experience.
This is a four-year (48 month) position with annual reviews
of performance.
The project begins at the start of MSU's Autumn 2008
semester and is being
funded by MSU's Office of the Vice President for
Operations. Benefits

health coverage.
A monthly stipend, commensurate with the successful
candidate's
qualifications, will also be provided. The successful
candidate will also
have opportunities to network with colleagues at
conferences and gain
valuable teaching experience.
