My portfolio is divided up by field: professional writing--which includes editing, technical writing, grant and proposal writing, and design & web authoring; academic writing--reports in various disciplines and essays in literary criticism and cultural rhetoric; and creative writing--both fiction and nonfiction.

This work was done during my undergraduate study in English, Professional Writing, Communications, and Creative Writing. During my study I have made attempts to gain the most out of my experience by synthesizing academic work with extracurricular and professional work. I have participated in a service learning project, writing a grant for a Lansing non-profit organization, interviewed the editor of the journal I intern for, wrote multiple proposals for my place of employment, and redesigned this on-line portfolio--all while gaining class credit. In this way I believe I have been able to enrich my experience in both nuance and practicality.
