Dr. Jack Preiss
Michigan State University Distinguished Professor

Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

I am a Professor of Biochemistry at Michigan State University. I teach General Biochemistry I (BMB 461) in the Fall. Within the Starch Biochemistry and Design Group, I do research in the synthesis of glycogen in bacteria and of starch in plants, with special emphasis on the structure-function relationships of the enzymes involved. You can see a list of my publications (in refereed journals and chapters etc.) on these and other related subjects. I am the head of the Starch Biochemistry and Design Research Group, and you can look at the home pages of some of the scientists who work with me. I have received many awards from distinguished societies around the world for research done in collaboration with my valued colleagues.
