The purposes of NAM are to provide a Forum for the exchange of information and ideas and promote cooperation among neighborhood groups. The purposes of NAM are addressed by:

• Enhancing the quality of life for individuals and families through neighborhood and community organizations.
• Assisting in the development of neighborhood associations in areas where there are none.
  
• Providing technical assistance to neighborhood associations in such areas as the prioritization of needs, grant writing, and organizational and leadership development.
• Educating and advocating on behalf of neighborhood concerns.
