Animal Health Diagnostic Laboratory
The Animal Health Diagnostic Laboratory is a service unit of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Michigan State University. The laboratory is fully accredited by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians and offers expertise in bacteriology/mycology, endocrinology, epidemiology, necropsy/biopsy, nutrition, toxicology, and virology/serology.
The AHDL's services are available to veterinarians and animal owners, on a fee-for-service basis, to assist in diagnosis and for consultation. The laboratory examines sick or dead animals; animal tissues, blood, and waste; feed; and samples from the environment. Its findings are coordinated with the referring veterinarians' clinical observations and animal histories in an effort to seek accurate diagnoses.

Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences in Michigan State University
Faculty and staff in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences (LCS) are concerned with the diseases of farm animals and horses. They teach students enrolled in the DVM curriculum of the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM), provide medical care of large animals in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH), advise animal producers on disease prevention, conduct research into animal disease, and provide postgraduate training via residency, MS and PhD programs....

Equine Extension Programs in Michigan State University
Michigan State University Equine Extension Program offers educational opportunities for the Michigan horse industry. Youth Horse Programs offer events, activities and educational opportunities for youth of all ages. Merillat Equine Center
In January, 1997, the Merillat family donated the Merillat Quarter Horse Farm to Michigan State University, one of the largest donations in the history of MSU. The 80 acre farm is located near Adrian in Lenawee County, which has the highest horse population of all Michigan counties. The farm, along with three dozen horses (including two time World Champion Stallion Sonnys Securitee, and Leaguers Shadow, National Reserve High Point Western Pleasure) will be used by the MSU departments of Animal Science and Large Animal Clinical Sciences for teaching, research, and extension. In addition to Sonny Securitee and Leaguers Shadow, the Center also stands the racing Quarter Horse stallion Artic Blast, a son of Easy Jet out of a Dash For Cash mare....
