Transfer
to tour hotel immediately after Congress closing session (Miklin Hotel)(

Rest
Early
evening reception and dinner at the “Home Touch” restaurant (6pm) and
introduction to the program
Sun.
- July 30, 2000
Breakfast
at the hotel;
Depart
at 8.00 am for Akosombo.
On
arrival take the 5 hour lake cruise on the Dodi Princess including a barbeque
lunch and entertainment (Cruise on Sundays only).
Return
to Akosombo at 4.00 pm and visit the Volta Hotel.
At
5.00 pm, continue onto Ho and Chances Hotel.
Dinner
at Chances Hotel (overnight at Chances Hotel- 233-91-28344)
Mon.
- July 31st, 2000:
Early
Breakfast at the Hotel
Visit
to Aksombo Textile Factory
Lunch
and visit Aburi Botanical Gardens, visit to shopping area and drum factory.
Late
afternoon return to Accra
Overnight
at Miklin.
Tues.
- Aug. 1st, 2000:
Full
Day in Accra and Tema
Breakfast
at the Hotel; Visit to Aid to Artisan Headquarters at Trade Fair Center
Proceed
to Tema and Cedi’s Bead factory
Lunch
in Tema at “Southern Fried”
Afternoon
vist to Mamaree’s Textile Co., with owner Rejoyce Adjasoo (batik)
Overnight
in Accra at Miklin Hotel.
Wed.
- Aug. 2nd, 2000:
Very
early breakfast and depart for Kumasi and the Ashante Kingdom;
Stop
at Bonwire, the famous Kente village enroute
Lunch
on arrival at the Royal Basin Resort;
Afternoon
visits to the Palace of the Ashantehene
Dinner
and overnight at the Flossid Hotel and Sanbra Hotel (233-51-31257).
Thurs.
- Aug. 3rd, 2000:
Full
Day in Kumasi:
Breakfast
at 7.30 am;
Morning
visit to the Centre for National Culture and attendance at the
Ashanti
Congress 2000.
Lunch
at the Sanbra Hotel
Afternoon
visits to craft villages:
Group
One: Krofofrom (brass village), Foase (wood village)
Group
Two: Ahwiaa wood Village, Ntonso
(Adinkra textiles)
Evening
discussion groups led by Barbara Hunt and Harriette McAdoo
Overnight
at the Sanbra and Flossid Hotels
Fri.
- Aug. 4th, 2000:
Early
morning breakfast and shopping with Mr. Acheampong of the Peaceful Kente
Industries, Bonwire
Visit
Kumasi Central Market
Return
to Accra and the Miklin Hotel for repacking and
Transfer
to Airport for return flight to USA.
