The Installer will check for X11 before
installing.
Everything in the MacGDE suite is now Universal which is why it is larger.
Exception is BLAST not yet available as Universal.

You must have a version of X11 (version 1.0 and Panther 10.3 or above)
installed with a windows manager, e.g Apples X11 (version
1 for Panther) or XFree86
4.2.1.1 or higher with a windows manager such as OroborOSX.
An additional download site is BioAfrica which also has GDELinux.
