This course is part of the four course doctoral core.  We examine the philosophy of science, theory construction, theory-to-data sequence, logic, and controversies in communication science.

Communication 821- Effects of Mass Communication
This is the introductory course in media effects for graduate students.  We examine the history of effects research, the major theories and theorists, and new trends in effects research.

Spring 2007
Communication 275- Introduction to Media Effects Research
This course provides an overview of theory and research from the media effects literature. Topics include major effects theories, media violence, sex in the media, political communication, effects of new technologies, and many others.

Communication 921- Micro and Macro Media
Perspectives on media processes pertaining to individuals, groups, and large-scale systems. Topics include cognitive processing of media, public opinion and affective responses to media.
