    October 14, 1994

Present: James Alberts, George Allen, Diana D'Angelo, Eugene Gray, Joseph Hanna, Lorraine Hudson, Nancy Lucas, Lee Olson, Craig Philips, Adam Stacey, Mark Urban-Lurain, Ira Washington, Robert Wittick

After Mark Urban-Lurain opened the meeting, he introduced Adam Stacey, appointed by ASMSU as the undergraduate representative to ICTC.

    The members introduced themselves.

Eugene Gray demonstrated the equipment in the newly-opened Language Learning Center.

Dr. Hunt will hold a CCSAC meeting in December. Meanwhile, he is willing to brief the committees. Mark will make arrangements for Dr. Hunt to brief ICTC on last year's APPR and other issues.

Diana D'Angelo brought the committee up to date on the microlabs. There has been a problem with students using the microlabs for playing games. So as to ensure that students having a valid educational use have first priority in using university microcomputers, the following policy statement was moved and seconded: "The MSU instructional microcomputer laboratories are provided primarily for academic use by MSU-affiliated individuals including students, faculty, and staff. Activities not specifically related to instruction, research, or outreach are considered recreational. Recreational use of the facilities is limited to those times when there are no MSU-affiliated individuals waiting to use the systems for academic purposes." The motion passed on a voice vote after a brief discussion.

Diana D'Angelo reported that Keyserver software will soon be installed in the labs. She distributed a chart listing all public microlabs and the equipment to be found in each one.

The committee approved the purchase of two copies of Hypercard 2.2 for the immediate use of students in TC 446.

The next meeting will be Friday, 28-OCT, 1 - 3 PM. 215 CC is NOT available on that date, so Mark will notify the committee of the meeting location.

    Respectfully submitted,
Eugene F. Gray, Secretary pro tem.
