Introduction

Marie Hollenbeck is a graduate student currently pursuing her masters in TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages) at Michigan State University, East Lansing Michigan. She was born and raised in East Lansing. Her second and third languages are Spanish and Japanese. Her undergraduate major was professional writing, a program which provides an education in editing, publishing, technical writing, web design, graphic design, and grant-writing. In addition, she had minors in psychology and linguistics.

This summer, Marie works for the English Language Center as a language/culture partner to help students from various foreign countries adjust to American life and answer questions about English. She also works for the college of arts and letters as a professional writing assistant for other professors. In addition to these two jobs she tutors English as a foreign language for students/families and edits international students' papers. Aside from working, Marie serves as the volunteer action coordinator on the International Volunteer Action Corps (IVAC). As you will notice in her online portfolio, Marie specializes in ESL editing and has previous experience working with proposals, web sites, and research projects. She is most passionate about multicultural diversity and the preservation of global languages and cultures.
