.......The Anthropoids are the larger of the two primate suborders. They can range anywhere from four to several hundred pounds, and inhabit area that covers nearly the entire world. Anthropoids have a omnivorous diet that consists of leaves, fruits, insects, or even other smaller primates. The Anthropoids have an increased sense of sight to compensate for their poor sense of smell. Unlike the Prosimii, Anthropoids have very long life cycles allowing some to live to nearly one hundred years of age!!! There are two Infraorders in the Anthropoid suborder, they are the Platyrrhini, or new world monkeys, and the Catarrhini, or old world monkeys. In the next section we will look at different types of primates in each of these Infraorders.
