Hours and Location:

The MSU Student Food Bank is open bi-weekly on Tuesdays, from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. in the Olin Health Center Dining Room (West Entrance). Please verify distribution dates and times by calling (517) 432-5136 and listening to the outgoing message.

What is Provided?

Each distribution, students have a choice of canned vegetables, fruits and soup; pasta; rice; and cereal. In addition, other items are provided as they become available, such as: macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, canned tuna, pre-packaged meals, fresh fruits and vegetables, hygiene products, etc. Food offerings for a given distribution depend on budget restrictions and availability of products.

How Does It Work?

Students are asked to check-in at the front table with their MSU Student Ids and then have a short interview. The interview allows the student to choose which products are most useful to them, and not receive products for which they have no use. The student’s selections are then bagged for them by volunteers while the student can choose several items from the “free-will pickup” area. The amount of food that students are given will be adjusted according to the number of people in their household, either family members or roommates.

Who is Eligible?

MSU undergraduate and graduate students who do not have an on-campus meal plan are eligible to use the food bank.  To receive food, students must present their MSU student identification EVERY time they come to the food bank. At the beginning of each semester, students must present a proof of current MSU enrollment that includes your name, MSU ID number, and the number or credits for which you are enrolled (a copy of your bill stub or schedule from STUINFO). All clients are eligible to come to the Food Bank on every distribution date.

Distribution Schedule:

Distributions are held on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm, in the Olin Cafeteria (Olin West Entrance) on the following dates:

September 4 and 18
October 2, 16 and 30
November 13
December 4

Spring 2008 Semester
January 15 and 29
February 12 and 26
March 11 and 25
April 8 and 22
