Continuing with my conversation with this man from Cuba. He brought his son with him to the Lansing area. One of the main things that brought him here was Lansing has a center. This center is called The Refugee Development Center. This center brings in new refugees almost every day. And actually about 50% of the refugees resettled in the Lansing area are from Cuba. This center helps these people in any way possible. They help them learn the English language, they will teach people how to use a computer, if needed, and will even teach them how to drive in the United States. The Refugee Development Center is there to help refugees feel comfortable in their new community. My friend said, "I would do anything for this country, because is has already provided so much for me."
