Since 2000 the drumline has conducted help sessions for those auditioning. These sessions are designed to help anyone auditioning for the MSU Drumline; but anyone is welcome to attend, regardless if he / she is auditioning this year or at all. Anyone may come and go as he / she pleases - the sessions are to help you!

The 2008 help sessions will be held at Demonstration Hall weekly from 7:00 - 9:00 almost every Monday night from January 14 until the audition in May. The schedule is online on the Events Calendar (link on the left) . Visitors, please be aware that parking can be difficult, especially on nights of MSU athletic events. We have changed some of the days to Monday to help accomodate for MSU events and for the Pistons Drumline, which uses the MSU Drums and performs at the Palace.

We will provide drums and cymbals. You should bring any music (from the website) and sticks / mallets. Snares may wish to bring snare stands, and tenors may wish to bring drums depending on attendance, as we have 6 sets of tenors, but no extras.

You may audition for any instrument you wish. You may change the instrument you are auditioning for at any time; however, you must make the instrument you are auditioning for, as each instrument is auditioned completely separate of the others.

All of the music on the website (on the exercises page) will be used on the auditions. Some pieces are not online due to copyright protection. To obtain these pieces, please email Jon Weber at the address below. The website will be updated to include all of the music for the auditions by February 2008.
