Dovetail Knife


This knife is of a very simple design (utilitarian).  The blade was made from a piece of chert from Fort Hood, Texas.  The handle was made from a section of a moose antler tine and it has a groove in it to accept the blade.  The blade was attached to the handle using elk sinew and clear hide glue.
Total Length: 17.6 cm (6.93 in).
Blade Length: 7.51 cm (2.96 in); Blade Length before inserting into handle: 10.12 cm (3.98 in); Blade Width: 5.0 cm ( in);Blade Thickness: 0.81 cm (0.32 in).
Handle Length: 10.21 cm (4.02 in); Handle Width: 2.98 cm (1.17 in); Handle Thickness: 2.49 cm (0.98 in).
