On May 12th, 2:28 PM, while we were sound asleep, on the other side of the world in Sichuan, China, tragedy suddenly befell those children who were getting ready for afternoon classes and people who were just starting their afternoon work.
So far, there are over 62,600 people dead, 24,000 missing, 36,000 injured, over 7,000 school buildings leveled, over 82,000 people in hospitals for treatment, with over 15 million homes destroyed, which left hundreds of millions homeless. Among them, many are minorities including Qiang ethnic and Tibetans. Since last Monday, rescuers risked their lives saving about 6,500 people and transporting 640,000 people to safety.

*Sichuan Earthquake Relief Fund (SERF) is a non-profit body founded by Great Lansing Chinese American Association specifically to raise money to help those people who suffered from the disastrous earthquake. The donated money will go directly and totally to the victims and will be used to help with relief efforts in protected and destitute areas.
*SERF expects to answer the needs of both victims of the region and worried souls of greater Lansing area.
