PATCH Goes to School

The Ingham Regional Healthcare Foundation and Healthwise University are sending the PATCH Program throughout the tri-county area educating school children on heart healthy habits for daily living.

Already in its third year, the PATCH Goes To School Program has visited over 40 schools and almost 7,000 students with the message of heart healthy living. The four part workshop series includes:

  • How the Heart Works
  • Heart Healthy Nutrition for Kids
  • Heart Healthy Exercise for Kids
  • Living Tobacco Free

This project requires an ongoing relationship between CPAH and Ingham REgional Medical Center for projects focusing on physical activity and health.

The specific purpose of this research project is for CPAH to partner with the PATCH program in order to evaluate its effectiveness.

The specific aims of the project include..

  1. To evaluate the validity of all survey forms used in the PATCH Goes to School program
  2. To evaluate the data collected in PATCH from 2002-2004.
  3. To evaluate changes in health and/or physical activity patterns in children participating in PATCH
  4. To evaluate the effectiveness of the L&L PATCH Healthy Food Choices campaign.

To find additional information about PATCH please visit the Ingham Regional Medical Center website.
