GRANPARENT'S UNIVERSITY
MSU SUMMER 2007

CPAH graduate students led a session entitled "Exercise Your Heart: What Happens and How it Works" during MSU's Grandparent's University 2007. The interactive session taught children and their Grandparents about the anaotmy of the cardiovascular system, how it responds to exercise, and why physical activity is good for your heart.

ANATOMY AND BLOOD FLOW:

 

Lanay teaches participants
how blood flows through the

cells and walk through the

BLOOD PRESSURE AND HEART RATE:

 

Mark teaches particpants about
blood pressure and how to take
a radial pulse. Then kids listen to each other's heart beat.

 

 

 

 

 

EKG AND RESPONSES TO EXERCISE:

Darijan hooks up a 4-lead EKG
on a kid and then has him walk on
a treadmill while he explains how
to read an EKG printout and how
heart rate changes during exercise.
