About
The Resource Connection
February 1, 2005 After thirteen years of working for the Michigan Conference UCC my voice is familiar to many on the UCC side of The Resource Connection. I worked in various capacities for the MI UCC; receptionist, support staff to the outdoor ministries program and for the last three years as editor of In the Michigan Conference, the MI-UCC denominational newspaper. During 2004 I continued as editor of In the Michigan Conference and worked from my home as I will continue to do. This allows me to also take care of my youngest granddaughter part of the time – a real treat! I am a member of the First Congregational Church of Charlotte, United Church of Christ. At my church I have been the church secretary, taught Sunday school, directed a children and youth choir for twelve years, and sung in the adult choir where my husband, Jim, is the director. I currently lead a women’s choir called Celebration Sisters and continue to sing in the mixed choir. I have written vacation church school curriculum and also am a composer, mostly of children’s music. In October 2003 I joined the Covenant Community V for Spiritual Formation, an ecumenical group that is designed after the Upper Room Academy of the United Methodist Church. We meet quarterly for retreat weekends for three years at the Weber Center on the campus of Sienna Heights University in Adrian. I was also an elementary teacher for six years and have training in the gifted area. One reason I sought out this position is because I love learning. I am a lifelong reader of many kinds of literature, sacred and secular. I know the importance of literacy and I am very aware of how people learn in many different ways; visual, auditory, tactile, and combinations of them. As the director of the media resource library I can use my love of learning to promote the use of the resources we have at The Resource Connection. I look forward to connecting with each of the Disciple and UCC churches and helping you to choose what is best suited to your church’s education, youth ministry, and outreach programs. How
to reach me: This
is a ¼ time position and I am at The Resource Connection 10 hours
a week. If you are in the Lansing area for a meeting or just want to see
The Resource Connection, it is generally open from 9 am – 4 pm Monday
– Friday and located in the lower level of the Michigan Region of
the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). You can visit and check out
resources during this time. If you prefer to stop by when I am on the
site, feel free to email me to let me know you are coming. Board
