Exploring New Approaches to Understanding the Historical Experiences
of Peoples in the Diaspora.™
WELCOME
to the Comparative Black History Ph.D. Program. On behalf of the
faculty and graduate students of Comparative Black History Ph.D.
Program at Michigan State University, it is a priviledge and pleasure
to introduce you to our program. Our program encourages graduate
students to explore new approaches to understanding the historical
experience of peoples of African descent in Africa and throughout
the Western hemisphere. Our program trains students to understand
the intricately connected yet distinct cultures of these disparate
societies.
A series of foundation courses are designed for students to explore
the myriad ways that culture, ideology, and racial politics both
distinguish and unite the historical experiences, reactions, and
conditions of African peoples in different parts of the Disapora.
Once again thank you for considering Michigan State University's
Comparative Black History Ph.D. Program.
