Please read the Instructions before beginning the review. On-Line Review Questions: I was born in 1743 in the colony of Virginia. I made a name for myself during the Revolutionary War, when I drafted one of this country's most famous documents. I later went on to become the President of the newly founded United States in 1800. I died on July 4, 1826 while asleep in my home. There has been much controversy surrounding me lately, particularly my offspring, but that should not detract from the important role I played in shaping this country, in particular, a significant purchase of land. Who am I? I brought to a head the boiling tensions within the United States during the 19th century. Beginning in 1861 and ending in 1865, I was the bloodiest event to ever take place. Pitting brother against brother, most people believe I started over a terrible institution. There were, however, many factors behind my existence. In the end, a great man helped to end the conflict, and thus began the very slow process of establishing equal rights for all American men. What am I? I began in 1929, with a pivotal event that affected almost every American. Coming off of one of the most prosperous periods in our country's history, I took over and lasted until 1941, ending only with the start of war. I led to wholesale changes in government institutions, and these changes were ushered in by one of the greatest president's in the country's history. The landscape of the American West was forever changed. Many Americans did not survive this cold, hard time, and in the end, things would never be the same. What am I? I began officially for Americans in 1941, but I had been lingering in Europe and Asia for many years prior to that. My causes were varied, but are often linked to one major Asian event. This was a time when many rulers were experiementing with different forms of government, particularly in Germany, Italy, and Russia. America would become involved after a key event on December 7, 1941. During my existence, many terrible things came to light, and in the end, most believed I was a necessary evil to prevent further atrocities. I also brought about many changes at home, particularly for women. What am I? My life-span was well over a decade, and the seeds of my existence were planted following World War II. I officially started in 1950 when U.S. soldiers were sent to Vietnam. As time dragged on with no resolution in sight, many people protested my presence. Why I began and how I continued have been hotly debated, but no one can deny that my existence ushered in many changes in American life, often among students like yourselves. Ultimately, however, my ending left more questions than answers. What am I?
