Vegetative Compatibility (VC)

• There are 5-7 loci that control VC in C. parasitica

• If all loci match two fungi are compatible, if they do not match the cells that touch die and there is no fusion (not compatible)

• The ability of the hyphae of two fungi to fuse when they meet, exchanging cytoplasm
