1915 and 1933 Western Electric Subsets

5

These sets were necessary for the phones to operate.  The smaller one on the left is made out of bakelite and in amazing condition.  These subsets were mounted near the floor or under desks and got dented or cracked very easily.  Inside them they contain bells and other electrical components to operate the phone.  The subset would be wired into the line, then the desk set would be wired into the subset.  The subset on the right is from 1915 and also in remarkable condition with very little damage to the metal nor paint.  See the bakelite subset open.   See the larger subset open.
