This
a rare item. It was made with a hole in the back to put the
entire phone through, as phones in the 1920s were not modular and were
wired by the phone company. Notice the small shelf for the phone
book underneath the cabinet where the phone is housed. The small
chair is original and intended for adults. Phone conversations
were short and uncomfortable!
After
14 hours of stripping 3 coats of black paint, 15 hours of sanding
and wood repair, and 5 hours of stainging and shellacing, this prize
piece of furniture is complete. I purchased this in the winter of
2003. Atop the phone stand is my 1918 GE brass-bladed electric
fan, also restored and working.
