1936 Zenith 10S153
Radio
This radio is a 1936 Zenith model 10S153. It can receive short-wave
radio, AM radio, and mid-range. It has a very large speaker and uses
10 vacuum tubes in the chassis. This radio also has a shadowmeter circuit
which casts a shadow on a plastic screen which varies with radio signal intensity.
The radio has tone control as well as settings for distance. It
operates at voltages up to 600v DC. The most expensive tubes in this
set are the 6L6 power tubes, which run around $15 each. When I bought
the set two tubes were burned out, they each cost only $2 to replace! This
set is currently under restoration of the electronic components. It
was originally from Akron, Ohio and was given to me by a friend in the summer
of 2003.
