1908 Smith Premier No. 10

This
typewriter is a Smith Premier Visable Type machine introduced in
1908. Notic the black and white keys, one keyboard (black) is for
capitals, the lower keyboard (white) is for lower-case. Oddly
enough, the idea of having a shift key was introduced in a machine made
by another company in 1868! Why Smith Premier continued to use a
dual-keyboard system is a mystery to me.
