These radio lamps were inexpensive and popular
in the 1930s. They're made of plaster or cast metal and usually have
a glass globe shade. This lamp was designed without one, as you can
see in the photo. It's lit with a red bulb which shines through holes
in the coal fire. The lamp also casts a red glow on the wall behind
it. Most of these lamps were painted with the copper-bronze finish
as this one has.
