This is a General Electric model 803 Television set from 1948. It was originally in a bar in Detroit, Michigan. The screen is 8”, it takes 26 tubes, and 350 watts to operate. This model is unusual because of the AM/FM radio built into the face. The set also has channel 1, which was eliminated by the FCC in 1948. There were few broadcast television stations when this set was made and fewer than one million sets in 1948. By 1954 there would be over 10 million sets in American homes. This is indeed a rare set and it’s very well-preserved.
