The three coins,
dimes, nickels, and quarters, fall down different channels. The
dimes and nickels strike the bell, labeled A. The sound from the
bell is picked up by the transmitter, C, which enables the operator to
hear how much money has been put in. The dime strikes the bell
twice, the nickel strikes the bell once. The quarter strikes a
gong, which is a wire coil by the letter D. In the other part of
the phone there is a transmitter to pick up this sound as well. B
is the 10G lock as it looks from inside the telephone.
