a) Students may complete Honors options in many classes that are not designated as Honors courses, provided the course in question is authorized for H-Options and the professor is a regular MSU faculty member who is willing to supervise the project.  An H-Option entails working with the professor to complete additional work related to the class that is of mutual interest to the student and the professor. Some common H-Options have included writing research papers, performing computer simulations, participating in academic service learning activities, and teaching a class for one period. For further information on Honors options and the rules for undertaking them, consult the Honors College website at http://www.msu.edu/~honcoll/H-Options.html.

b) Scholars may have up to two substitutions for their Integrative Studies requirements, with no more than one substitution in any of the three Integrative Studies knowledge areas (ISS, IAH, and ISB/ISP).  Scholars with an alternative track in one knowledge area (such as ISB/ISP) may still have up to two substitutions in the other two areas (for example, ISS and IAH if the alternative track is in general science).

Questions on ASP requirements may be directed to Professor Tess Tavormina, the faculty coordinator for the program, at tavrmina@msu.edu (224 Morrill Hall; phone 432-1733). You may also wish to consult the FAQ page on the ASP web site, at http://www.msu.edu/~asp/faq.htm.
