The staff of the ALL
- conducts pure and applied research in the areas of voice synthesis (talking
computers), speech recognition, and multilingual communication systems
- develops pathways to artistic expression (e.g., access to instrumental
music and singing) and the means for persons with severe physical limitations
to control computers and other devices, and
- offers expertise and facilities for designing and fabricating advanced
electronic research equipment.
Research Opportunities for Students
The ALL offers work and research opportunities to undergraduate and graduate
students from departments including Journalism, Audiology and Speech Sciences,
Telecommunication, Music, Computer Science, and Linguistics.
