Asian Pacific Americans Register to Vote
This fall the Asian Pacific American Student Organization (APASO) worked with an organization called APIAVote in an effort to increase the number of Asian Americans in the voting population. APASO has 10 affiliate groups under it, and APIAVote provided an incentive of $250 to the affiliate group that
could register the most voters. Asian Americans are often underrepresented in their communities, and as a result their needs go unmet. The lack of representation from the Asian American community is one that needs to change; and for that reason the student groups pushed to get Asian Americans involved and registered as voters. MSU was able to procure 75 new voters in the end. To accomplish this, affiliate groups sent their general body members in the community to register voters. The groups also provided incentives such as a raffle for a free t-shirt to people that registered with their group.
