Campaign
To Stop Killer Coke - www.killercoke.org
We are working to remove Coca Cola from Michigan State University because of Coke's blatant human rights violations in Columbia and their crimes against humanity in many other parts of the world. We encourage people to reconsider supporting Coca Cola, by refusing to purchase any of their products and sending in letters or pettions urging them to respect people's rights and to stop using violence to intimidate and terrorize their workers and unions. Download A letter to send in.
We are also working on Amnesty's Columbia Human Rights Campaign.

Women's
Human Rights: Promotes
and defends the human rights of all women and aims to stop state-sponsered violations
and torture in custody.
This program also seeks to hold governments accountable to prevent and punish
gender-based violence perpetrated by private actors such as honor killings,
domestic violence and trafficking. This semester we are focusing directly on
the new Stop
Violence Against Women Campaign and the related National
Student Week of Action. (picure:
demonstration for the women abducted and killed in Ciudad Juárez.)
United States Government Action: Promoting human rights within the United States of America by urging leaders to act upon the standards of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which we have signed as a nation. We work on issues such as Death Penalty, Torture, War On Terror, Patriot Act, Discrimination, Arms Trade, Iraq/Afghanistan/Haiti, etc...
Sponsorship of a Refugee Family from Afghanistan: We the Amnesty International chapter of Michigan State University have been fortunate enough to sponsor a refugee family from Afghanistan. Since September, we have committed ourselves to helping this family adjust to life in the United States and empower them with the tools needed to succeed in their new lives. Our primary programs with the family involve ESL training and Family Mentoring. ESL Tutoring consists of weekly lessons focusing on reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English. While our Family Mentoring Program helps our family understand the daily workings of American life allowing them to become self-sufficient. This includes weekly trips to places such as the grocery store, the bank, the library, to the post office, etc. giving them a greater understanding of society and its workings. This family from Afghanistan consists of a single mother and her four sons and four daughters ranging from 19 to 4 years of age. The children are Mohammed (19), Suriya (17), Salem (13), Royia (13), Fahim (11), Kasim (9), Rohina (7), and Fahtima (4). This amazing family is in great need of help from our community, right now they’re receiving assistance for rent, utilities, & food, but have no means to purchase any other supplies and necessities. The family does not have the opportunity to work as of right now due to their recent arrival to the US, and inability to speak English. So we are asking members of the community to look deep into their hearts and spare a few simple items of which the family would be extremely grateful to have. If you wish to help this family you can send or dropoff either money or any of the following items for the Omari Family to: (please put For the Omari family on any donations which you send)
Please help us and donate as much as possible;
many items will be given to Refugee Servicesfor all the other refugees that
